Anubias plants appear to do much better when put in a nutrient rich substrate or when attached to porous rocks or driftwood while aquarium gravel might be sufficient. My personal taste is the substrate. Another facet of attention that is anubias relates to planting. When you were planting an Anubias nangi, you should not bury the rhizome into the substrate. Make sure so the rhizome observable to the eye, the rhizome is in addition to the substrate.
