Easy Carpeting Aquarium Plants Micranthemum sp. “Montecarlo” Called New Large Pearl Grass – Micranthemum sp. “Montecarlo” or known as ‘New Large Pearl Grass’ is an impressive and recommendable ground cover plant for nano, medium, or large aquariums. It was taken from a riverbank in the Misiones in North Argentine by some Japanese people. In South America this plant known as ‘Bacopita.’

The Micranthemum Montecarlo seems like a bigger version of Hemianthus callitrichoides aka ‘Cuba,’ but it also slightly the same as to ‘standard’ Micranthemum umbrosum. They grow flat on the substrate, shaping a dense mat. They have roundish leaves a bit smaller and a darker green hue than those of Micranthemum umbrosum. When planted in high areas, loose shoots will bow to the substrate. The ‘New Large Pearl Grass’ is one of the popular freshwater aquarium grass plants, because it’s easy to keeping and growth fastly in the tank than other freshwater carpet plants and it can plant in low-tech aquariums too.

If that plant rises too high and the bottom part of it gradually will die. If the bottom part of this plant dies, then it will be removed from the substrate automatically. Indeed you will lose the beautiful very dense carpet plants in your tanks. Don’t forget to use aquarium pump circulation to drive the rotation of CO2 air and nutrients from liquid fertilizer inside the tanks, which in this way, all plants in your tanks will get the same nutrients as well.
